This very interesting representative work is one of the most sought-after drawings of the 1959-1960’ς period from Kounellis’ first solo exhibition at Galleria La Tartaruga in Rome in June 1960. Kounellis presented a series of works with letters and typographical marks taking his cue and inspiration from Hugo Ball’s vocal recital and Giuseppe Ungaretti’s poetry. He even sang these vowels loudly as if they were his own musical scores.
