A unique unknown to-date masterpiece by Panagiotis Gravvalos, an artist known for his numerous award-winning designs of Greek and foreign stamps, in collaboration with Alevizos Tassos. Many of his works are in major collections of Engraving, Graphic Arts and Philately Museums around the world, while some of them have pride of place in the Cretan Municipal Gallery of the city of Chania permanent collection. His prowess in design and composition is obvious in the way he renders volumes and perspective. The dynamism of his language transforms the painting into a unique depiction of the anti-dictatorship protest suggesting the artist’s strength and vigor in resisting the oppression the restrictions and prohibitions of the illiberal regime while proposing free thought and creativity as the path leading to the conquest of freedom.
