‘The bosses’ 1979

Signed & dated oil on canvas 2.00 x 2.50 mtrs

€ 60.000 – 80.000

A stunning Monumental work by global Gaïtis with reflective power, artistic intelligence, and unparalleled design skill! The surroundings and the central oversized and allusive form of the ‘bosses’ (as he personally titled this work) are depicted here with a symbolic hint in shades of gold. In chromatic contrast to the giagantic authority, the artist juxtaposes his black and white figure with relentless uniformity as a multitude of stylized forms lined up in the shallow space of his fascinating painting surface. With their geometric frames, the forms-caricatures-subjects are reduced to a means of irony and social criticism. The attempt to convey the human condition through the dominance of authority shifts the viewer from the external to the internal space-time. The artist depicts with enchanting acuity the submission and obedience to the higher authority within an authoritarian structure in the sphere of a magical dystopian world filled with rhythm from Fritz Lang’s masterpiece, ‘Metropolis’.
