‘The atelier’ c1958

Signed oil/tempera on canvas 53×60 cm

€ 5.000 – 8.000

A very attractive painting from the famous “Workshops” series painted in the well-known post-cubist style of the great Greek painter, sculptor, engraver, illustrator, writer and academic Ghika inspired by a similar group of works created by Picasso. With a closer look at the kaleidoscopic mosaic of colors of the tectonic composition we can recognize the objects, the furniture and his painting tools, the easels with the characteristic pictures, the wicker chair the armchair the stool as well as the pointed windows in the background. Truth, as the ability to imitate and represent objects, becomes a visual reality and is beautifully expressed with forms and colors. The colored forms alternate with linearity, eurythmy and stage arrangement composing a charming architectural narrative fabric.
